Ingredients

Marinade
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Lamb
  • 1.5 pounds lamb shoulder cut into 1-inch cubes
For Serving
  • 4 pita pita bread for serving
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce for dipping
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions

Method

Marinate the Lamb
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
Prepare the Skewers
  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Thread the marinated lamb onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
Grill the Skewers
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
Serve
  1. Serve the lamb souvlaki skewers with warm pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and chopped vegetables.
