Ingredients
  

Blackberry Sauce Ingredients
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries can substitute with frozen
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup brandy or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon water for cornstarch slurry

Method
 

Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine the blackberries and sugar over medium heat. Stir gently until the blackberries start to break down and release their juices.
  2. Add the brandy and lemon juice to the saucepan, stirring to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. If using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly before serving over ice cream.
