Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 4 medium ripe bananas The riper the bananas, the sweeter and better your crumble will taste.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adds a deep caramel flavor; feel free to use coconut sugar for a healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Brightens the flavors; lime juice can be used as a substitute if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Enhances warmth and sweetness; nutmeg can also add a lovely twist.
For the Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats Provides a hearty texture; quick oats can work if that?s what you have on hand.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Creates structure in the topping; whole wheat flour can be substituted for nuttiness.
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar Sweetens the crumble; you can reduce this for a less sweet topping.
  • 1/2 cup cold butter Essential for achieving that crumbly texture; vegan butter works well too.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness; omit if you're on a low-sodium diet.
For Serving
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream A scoop on top makes this dessert irresistible; try dairy-free ice cream for a vegan option.
