- 1 cup masoor dal (red lentils), soaked for 2 hours
- 1/2 cup water (for batter)
- 1-inch fresh ginger, peeled
- 2 green chilies, adjusted to taste
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
- 2 tbsp oil or ghee (for frying)
- Chopped cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Soak the masoor dal in water for about 2 hours. Drain and rinse.
- In a blender, combine the soaked lentils, water, ginger, green chilies, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add oil or ghee.
- Pour about half a cup of batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a circle.
- Cook until bubbles form on top (about 3 minutes), then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side (about 2 minutes).
- Serve warm with yogurt or chutney.
