Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup short-grain rice
  • 1 ? cups water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • Fillings (optional): cooked chicken, tuna, or vegetables

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until clear. Combine with water in a pot or rice cooker and soak for 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the rice according to package instructions (about 20 minutes). Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Fluff the rice with a fork and mix in soy sauce and sesame oil.
  4. If using fillings, prepare them by chopping finely.
  5. Wet your hands to prevent sticking. Take half a cup of rice, flatten it in your palm, add your filling, and shape into a ball.
  6. Preheat the grill to medium heat. Grill each side for about three minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve immediately with extra soy sauce or sesame seeds as desired.
