- 1 cup granulated sugar (200g), divided

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350?F (175?C) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt ? cup (50g) of sugar with butter until bubbly. Pour into the prepared pan and arrange orange slices on top.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the remaining sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture until combined.
- Pour batter over the citrus layer in the pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for about 35-40 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool slightly before flipping onto a serving plate.
