- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- ? cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- ? tsp black pepper
- ? tsp mustard powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350?F (175?C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth, then gradually add milk, stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes). Mix in mustard powder, salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar cheese until melted.
- Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce until well coated. Transfer half to the baking dish, layer with remaining cheese, then add the rest of the mac & cheese mixture on top. Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs over everything.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
