Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 8 ounces fresh button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 soft brioche or whole wheat burger buns
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add sliced mushrooms and minced garlic; cook until golden brown and tender (5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape into four patties about one inch thick, pressing gently in the center to prevent puffing.
- Grill or pan-fry patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Place Swiss cheese slices on top during the last minute to melt.
- While patties rest, toast the burger buns lightly until golden brown.
- Assemble by spreading remaining melted butter on both sides of buns if desired. Layer lettuce (optional), patties, and mushroom mixture. Add additional toppings as desired.
- Serve immediately with crispy fries or a fresh salad.
