Ingredients
- 3–4 medium-sized Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375?F (190?C) and grease a baking dish.
- Wash, peel, and thinly slice the potatoes.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until warmed through.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish and pour half of the cream sauce over them. Sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
