  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted) + extra for brushing

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar in a bowl; sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Transfer the kneaded dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide it into twelve pieces, and shape each into a ball.
  6. Place shaped rolls on a greased baking tray, cover again, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes while preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown; brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
